Multifilament polypropylene or MFP is a recent arrival on the bondage scene.  Polypropylene ropes were previously dismissed for their hard and stiff plastic characteristics.  However, MFP has become popular because the advance multifilament manufacturing has produced a rope that is very soft and extremely flexible.

MFP now rivals nylon in popularity within western bondage circles and being twisted this rope still leaves beautiful patterns on the skin.  Polypropylene also repels moisture making the material a perfect choice for kinbaku riggers who like to play whilst their bottom’s are tied.

Multifilament polypropylene can be a little slippery with some types of knots, but with care it can be used for all types of bondage, including suspension.  Be aware though, that as a synthetic rope MFP shares the low heating point, where even small amounts of friction risk causing rope burn.

Whilst polypropylene rope has a lower breaking point than nylon, it also exhibits lower stretch, making it a good choice of rope for beginners and any experts alike.
