Returning to 5mm Rope
Stepping back over a decade, the rope being sourced out of Japan was usually a 5.5mm, or 5mm in diameter. Whilst this is not surprising given that Japanese models are graced with smaller, lighter body types, you only have to look closer at Hojojutsu – the origins of kinbaku – to see that the original preference for diameter was as small as 3mm.
It seems that at some point, early in this last century, 5mm/5.5mm ropes became an informal ‘best fit’, the perfect balance between function and aesthetic.
If your model is of smaller stature then we are confident that you both will enjoy the ‘finer’ feeling our HQ 5mm ropes are able to provide. Should your taste be for a feeling of sturdy, harder ropes, choose our 5mm Tossa Jute. If you preferences are for lighter, more loosely laid ropes, choose our 5mm Asanawa (featured in this image). Or should you be seeking to deliver maximum comfort for your models the choice is our 5mm braided hemp. All of these ropes can provide you and your model the exceptional experiences whilst all being extremely dependable.
So… all that remains is choosing the right rope for you. If you are not sure what would you like, we offer sample lengths (approximately 1m), and you are more than capable of ordering one of each kind so that you can decide upon your preference.
